Video of the Day...Cameo "Single Life"

I must really have an old soul because this was my jam. I guess staying up late playing dominoes and cards with my dad every night had something to do with it. I'm living the single...single...single...LIFE!

I Love L.A.!!!

It was a group effort by the Lakers last night that helped them close out their series against the Jazz. In true Laker form they built a 22 point lead by the end of the 3rd quarter and by 5 minute mark in the 4th Utah made their run and were only down by 6. That's when the "Black Mamba" took over...scoring and dishing out assists Kobe pushed Los Angeles into the Western Conference semifinals where they'll play the winner of the Rockets/Portland series
(Rockets are currently up 3-1 in the series).
While Kobe was Kobe... the man of the night had to be Lamar L.O. Odom. Odom had a double-double for the night with 26 points, 15 boards, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots.

Watch highlights here:

In honor of the Lakers closing out their series against the Jazz, I give you a Staple Center anthem...Randy Newman "I LOVE L.A."

Record Tying win for Denver...

Denver tied a playoff record last night by blowing out the New Orleans Hornets and going up 3-1 in the series. The Nuggets held Chris Paul to only four points as he went 2-7 for the night.

As a team Denver shot over .500(43-76) and shot .833 from the free throw line. The Nuggets look to close out this series Wednesday night in Denver.

Da Bulls...

Even though I haven't been a fan since my BJ Armstrong left the Bulls...yeah when BJ left it was a wrap, Damn that Jordan guy! The Bulls played what had to be the highlight game of all playoff games thus far yesterday afternoon. Had me changing the channels and cursing at the TV...you know how I get. Here are some clips.

I'll tell you this much...Ben Gordon in straight huff...GARBAGE! To be a semi vet his shot selections were horrible. Dude got lucky. Same thing goes for Tyrus Thomas...there was no reason for him to have the ball in his hands in the final seconds of OT trying to make clutch free throws. Dude wasn't even the best free throw shooter on the floor and his ass missed one. Stupid mistakes down the stretch because everyone wants to shine. Young teams I tell ya! It is one hell of a series though. D. Rose lead the way shooting over 50% at 10-17 and 23 points in 48 minutes

NFL Draft 09...

The NFL Draft is this weekend and since no one gives a damn about the Lions (not even folks in Detroit) and their #1 pick...let's focus on the other top 9 picks. Here's a little cheat sheet for the ladies. If your man wants to stay in the crib this Saturday and watch the first couple of rounds of the draft at least you can half way act interested or like you know what you're talking about. The only team I'm worried about are my Bengals and that 6th pick and the only player I'm watching in Mark Sanchez out of USC. He's projected to end up with the Seattle Seahawks, which really isn't a bad move. Matt Hassleback is getting...bump that is old and they just acquired former Bengals WR (damn you TJ...damn you)TJ Houshmandzadeh during the off season. Either way this should be an interesting draft. I'm also curious to see if the Chicago Bears do anything to improve that O-Line for Jay Cutler and they also need to pick up a solid WR (wide receiver). I wish the Bengals would just let Chad Johnson go! Now that would be a nice pick.

Draft Order
1. Detroit Lions (Record: 0-16)
2. St.Louis Rams (2-14)
3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14)
4. Seattle Seahawks (4-12)
5. Cleveland Browns (4-12)
6. Cincinnati Bengals (4-11-1)
7. Oakland Raiders (5-11)
8. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11)
9. Green Bay Packers (6-10)
10. San Francisco 49ers (7-9)

Top 10 Players
1. Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest 97
2. Jason Smith OT Baylor 97
3. Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 96
4. B.J. Raji DT Boston Coll. 96
5. Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 96
6. Aaron Maybin DE Penn State 96
7. Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 96
8. Mark Sanchez QB USC 95
9. Brian Orakpo DE Texas 95
10. Andre Smith OT Alabama 95

Terry 6th Man of the Year....

Guess I just can't be right all the time...even though I do try. It has been reported, Jason Terry of the Dallas Mavericks will be named 6th Man of the Year during a press conference Friday. The masses projected Terry for a couple of weeks now but I was rolling with my boy Lamar Odom. Oh well...both guys performed well this season. Congrats Jason!

This is day 2 of Yeezy and this new found fine-ness...hot damn!!!

Nnamdi AWE-sum-WAH

Raiders Pro Bowl Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and fellow Narbonne Gaucho Alum (G-House...Lame I know) did his thing last night of ESPN's NFL Live. Guess he's getting a head start on the sports commentating career. He looked poised and did one hell of a job. Not mad Nnamdi...Not mad at all. Let's not forget that three-year contract he just inked for $45.3 million that makes him the highest paid defensive back in NFL history.

Check out this clip from last night

Derrick Rose...Rookie of the Year

The reports keep rolling in...Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls will be announced as the 08-09 Rookie of the Year during a 3pm press conference this afternoon. Rose did his thing this season averaging 37 minutes and 16.8 and helped the Bulls push their way into the playoffs and he's still on a roll well into the post season. Showing he's not just all hype he contributed 36 points and 11 assists the night of his playoff debut and win over the Celtics. Read the story here

Congrats D. Rose

(I'm on a damn roll...3-0)

Defensive Player of the Year...

The NBA announced its Defensive Player of the Year and it was...Yeah, my pick (told ya'll I was good) Dwight "Superman" Howard. Howard is the youngest player to win the award. Read the story here . I'm 2-0 baby! Over here shining like the (F)Lakers.

Good Yeezy vs. Shag Yeezy

It's Tuesday and well...no more Taking it back Tuesday's

So, on the other Blog I came up with famed Taking it back Tuesdays. I feel it's only fair we leave the past...the past! So tomorrow check out Way back Wonderful Wednesday's. So when you crave that nostalgic blast from the past look no further because I'm bringing the heat each and every Wednesday...

When did you fall in love with hip hop...

Crazy enough I can't pen point one moment when I just fell in love with hip-hop. It's been a part of my foundation from day 1. Hell I won an elementary school talent show in 1st grade off Kool Moe Dee's "Wild Wild West" , I saved lunch money in 5th grade to buy Low End Theory, dislocated my knee trying to house off Blue Cheese by the UMC's in 6th grade...it's like hip hop is in my veins. To this day I lose my mind when Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka or Act Too gets played. So no, I can't tell when I fell in love with hip-hop because hip hop has always been in me.

Respect!

A Cocktail for Ray J...

Yes it's true...I watched a full season of For the Love of Ray J (sue me). Even though I didn't like any of those chicks, Cocktail did seem to be the most sane. We know Mama Whitney sure isn't a happy camper...

Oh Jesus I love you so much....(be easy, it's a line from He Got Game)

If you gotta go out...that's how you go out, the Bulls played with much heart and played down to the final second of last night’s game. I really believe they can win two here at UC. If the Bulls played a better first half, they would have left Boston up 2. Like Boston (you do know Boston has two former Clipper players in rotation *Miki Moore and Eddie House*), each night the Bulls have a player that can step up. Saturday it was Rose, last night Gordon and any night Hinrich, Tyrus or hell even Tim Thomas can get hot. I really see the Bulls in 6.
This man right here though...I don't know what they told his ass in the Locker Room but between Jesus (Ray Allen) and Gordon that was one hell of a 2nd half.
